About the Authors
Fred Brauer is a Professor Emeritus at the University of WisconsinMadison and an Honourary Professor at the University of British Columbia. His research interests include ordinary differential equations and population biology. He has coauthored books in differential equations and mathematical epidemiology, including his recent textbook, Mathematical Models in Population Biology and Epidemiology, 2nd Edition, written with Carlos CastilloChavez.
Carlos CastilloChavez is a Regents and a Joaquin Bustoz Jr. Professor at Arizona State University (ASU), a member of the Santa Fe InstituteÕs external faculty, and an adjunct professor at Cornell University. He is the founding director of the Mathematical, Computational and Modeling Sciences Center and the graduate field in applied mathematics in the life and social sciences (AMLSS) at ASU. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and SIAM.
